Sampling everyday objects
Pepijn creates interior objects by sampling and reframing the design language of our everyday surroundings. Rather than adding new silhouettes to an overcrowded world, he isolates and reinterprets what already exists.
Industrial to Interior
Technical objects, such as industrial ventilation components or old milk funnels, are stripped of their original function and used as molds. By casting these forms in post-consumer plastic (sourced from UZ Ghent and beyond), anonymous utilitarian objects are given a new lease on life as tactile lamps, vases, or stools.
Sustainable Production
His work is an invitation to view reality through a different lens. Deeply rooted in a culture of responsible production, Pepijn collaborates with local and social workshops to create serene objects that celebrate the beauty of the everyday.
Pepijn has been carrying this mark or scar since his childhood on his left thumb. It's a reminder of a seemingly insignificant incident. Meanwhile, his thumb has acquired the function of distinguishing between left and right quickly. A trivial incident with a practical twist.
Now the scar gets a new function as a mark of the studio. A shape that depicts memory for Pepijn.
